Another Rock and Gem Show is complete. This year’s show was a huge success. Thanks to all of you that helped out.

The January meeting was a great success. John Wright and Deanna Anson from the Boise clubs were down to visit. It was a great pleasure to see Sam back at the meetings. The dates for the 75th Gem Show have been set for 8 and 9 March. We are working on getting our field trips set up. Three fieldtrips have been posted to the member’s only page at this time. Others will be posted as we get them set up. If you intend on attending one of these trips, please fill out the form on the member’s only page so that we can have an idea as to how many are coming and we don’t leave the meeting place without you.

The first trip of the year is done. This was a three-day trip to McDermitt, Nevada. There was only four of us on Friday and seven on Saturday. Leane of Caldera Rock Shop took us to her thunder egg mine on Friday and gave us permission to go to her purple cow and purple cloud mines. We had an excellent time and found a lot of nice material. We even found the license plate that Brian lost last year! Below are two pics of a large specimen of petrified wood.

The first pic was taken last year. The second pic was taken this year. Somebody was very ambitious!

The multi-club event at Tony’s Rock Yard was a great success. We had rain throughout the morning, but it eventually cleared out. It seems like everyone had a great time and it was good to see some of our new members there. Food was great as usual.
